She's a stomach sleeper now

This is now one of Hali'a's favorite positions to sleep in!

Up until about a week ago, Hali'a has always slept on her back or on her side, but now she likes to sleep on her belly--sometimes with her but in the air. It's pretty funny. I know some books say it's not good to sleep on the stomach anymore, but I think she's fine. Anyway, I put her down at night on her back and when I wake up she's like this--so there's not much I can do about it anyway.

8 Months old and Brushing

Hali'a-Girl turned 8 months on July 17th and since she recently grew her first two bottom teeth, she got her first try at brushing her teeth!
It's amazing how much she has grown!!
At first she didn't know if she liked it or not...

Then, of course, she had to try it by herself...

Now she loves brushing her teeth!

Bed Head

Hali'a woke up this morning with this awesome hair do....

B-Day Celebration

I had a very fun 23rd birthday this year! My birthday was Monday, July 13th, but we had a family/friends dinner at our house on Sunday. Jon was a stud and made a great dinner! We had chicken katsu, kalbi ribs, rice, potato salad, two kinds of sushi, and guri-guri for dessert! Erin also made a chocolate cake with homemade chocolate frosting, and Hilarie made an ono lemon cake with lemon cheesecake frosting. I was pretty much spoiled!!
I had a fun time hanging out with everyone and eating the food! I even got some pretty cool presents so thanks to all of you who came over and for the presents!
Unfortunately, I was a goof and forgot to take any pictures that night!!
On my real birthday, Jon came home from work with some flowers and made reservations to eat at Houston's...one of the Jenks boys' favorite rib joint. We had a nice date together while Erin and Kenny watched Hali'a. Thank you guys!
Jon and I don't take very many pictures together so we tried to take a couple while we were there...

Hali'a's friend, Ernie

While cleaning out the garage, Erin found this Tickle-Me-Ernie that Jon had bought when he was in High school from a seminary auction. It still laughs and vibrates and says, "Ha! Ha! Ha! That tickles!!" when you press Ernie's stomach!
Hali'a loves her new friend! I set her in her Bumbo with Ernie while making breakfast and when I turned around she was holding him like this and I had to get a picture...
Hali'a loves eating Ernie's hair, nose, hands, and feet!
You can tell that Ernie's got some years on him because his eyes are yellow and sometimes he gets stuck on vibration mode when we press his stomach, but she still loves it!
I bet Jon didn't know how much his future daughter was going to love this toy when he bought it so many years ago!
I wonder what other treasures we can find in the garage that she can enjoy!

Cookie Monster

As many of you know, Hali'a isn't taking well to solid foods. She hates baby food including the rice and oatmeal cereals. It's been quite a task trying to get her to take to it but recently she's been doing better. She must think she's a big girl already because the only way she'll eat baby food is if she can hold the spoon and feed herself. She'll push our hands away if we have the spoon or turn away when we come close to her mouth, but she loves feeding herself. It's pretty funny and pretty messy too!
Although we still try the baby food Hali'a loves eating watermelons, bananas and these teething cookies...

Just a funny story on how we found out Hali'a likes bananas:
One morning last week I was holding Hali'a while eating a banana for breakfast. I didn't realize the banana was in Hali'a's reach so when I turned away she grabbed the banana and shoved it in her mouth. Erin saw her do it and started cracking up. Ever since then she's loved holding bananas and scrapping some off with her two bottom teeth....yes, Halia's first two teeth popped out within the past week and a half. I'll post a funny story about that and some pictures of them later!

4th of July Celebrations!!!

Our 4th of July celebrations were so fun!
It started in the morning...we went to the ward pancake breakfast at the church. The pancakes were pretty good!
In the afternoon, Jon and Justin played soccer with some friends and the gals did some last minute shopping and prep work for the picnic/party.
Aunty Allison, Christine, Aunty Sonoko, and Uncle Ted came over to see Hali'a Thanks for visiting!!
During the picnic party Hali'a practiced her B-Boy moves in her sleep...
Jon got to hold Stacey and Dan King's cute new baby, Ethan King (5 months old)
Hali'a's first encounter with fireworks...she liked looking at the fireworks but didn't care so much for the sound of the firecrackers. She was also very congested that night so she was inside for most of the time.
Here's Hali'a with her first sparkler...didn't work out so well cause she kept going for the sparkles and not the stick

It was a full day of fun!

Photo Opp...

Hali'a was in a picture taking mood so we had to take advantage of it!

Then we busted out the bubbles but she wasn't too impressed!

Growing up

Our little Hali'a-Monster is growing up...

Hali'a has been wheezing lately so her Pediatrician prescribed some medication that has helped her get over the wheezing. She's still a little congested but is slowly getting better.
Luckily, we were able to use Jordan's old Nebulizer...

Aloha Oe, Molokai!!

Thank you so much to all our Molokai ohana for making our summer vacation so much fun! We'll see you guys in December!!
Our last hour on Molokai...
